Gastric Sleeve

Gastric Sleeve

The gastric sleeve, also called sleeve gastrectomy has become the most popular weight loss procedure over the last decade. The procedure is performed laparoscopically, using cameras and tiny skin incisions where approximately 75% of the stomach is cut and removed, leaving behind a stomach about the size of a banana. This smaller stomach means you feel full and completely satisfied after eating just a small amount of food!

Additionally, the part of the stomach that produces the hormone Ghrelin is removed. This hormone plays a role in causing the feeling of hunger. After the Sleeve, the levels of Ghrelin decrease, and feeling of hunger decreases.
